Hunter-types need to move. We think clearer when we’re in motion, and we tend to feel better. Exercise is the “perfect drug.” Just look at the cocktail of beneficial brain chemicals that get produced during (and after) a good cardio workout:
+ Dopamine (focus and motivation)
+ Serotonin (feelings of well being)
+ Endorphins (natural pain killers)
+ Epinephrine (needed for handling stressful situations)
Once again, I want to note dopamine in particular, as it’s deficiency is often the prime culprit of our ADD/ADHD challenges. During a cardio workout (like running, or rigorous sports activities) our brain literally gets flooded with dopamine. This explains why the day or two after this kind of exercise we typically experience greater focus, self-confidence, and increased mental clarity.
For us hunter-types, an exercise program should include:
+ A cardio workout of some sort (to get your heart pumping).
+ Lasts for at least 30 minutes.
+ Ideally outdoors (gets more fresh oxygen into your body, especially your brain).
+ (3) times a week.
